Let us know you’re Interested!

So, you want to be an original?

A new semester is upon us at Carnegie Mellon, so what better way to kick it off than by signing up for our Spring 2024 auditions!

We are always in the mood to hear some incredible voices, which is why we are excited for you to come audition for us! We know auditioning may be stressful, but we want it to be a fun experience! To be best prepared, check out how a typical audition goes:

  1. Introduction - Say hi! Let us know your name, grade, major, hometown, and any other information you’d like us to know.

  2. Solo - Please sing a verse and chorus (about a minute) of a song that shows who you are as a singer (range, tone, musicality, personality). We want to know who you are as a person and a musician!

  3. Technical Singing - We will lead you through a few exercises to test your range, sight reading, pitch, etc. There is no pressure to be perfect, we just want to get a better understanding of you as a singer!

  4. More Skills! [Optional] - If you beatbox, sing bass, or have any other talents you’d like to showcase, please…. showcase them!

Frequently asked questions

Can I audition for more than one group on campus?

Yes! We encourage you to audition for any and all groups that interest you. Each group's callback schedule will accommodate other groups for which you may be auditioning.

How often do you rehearse?

Rehearsal is focused, but lots of fun! We typically have two weekly rehearsals that last 1.5 hours each. This semester, we rehearse from 8:00pm–9:30pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays. These times/days are subject to change, depending on the preparation needed before performances.
